Itinerary

Day 1 Doubtful Sound day trip

Experience a day trip to Doubtful Sound ex Manapouri (20 minute drive from Te Anau)

Your adventure begins with a 30km boat cruise across the crystal clear waters of stunning Lake Manapouri. Dotted with bush clad islands, white sand beaches and a number of secluded coves and bays, the lake is surrounded by mountains and is a picture-perfect part of New Zealand.

Once you’ve arrived at West Arm, spend time soaking up the information on the displays at the Department of Conservation Visitor Centre. Learn about the historical and modern day workings of the power station before boarding the coach for the unforgettable drive over Wilmot Pass.

Arriving in Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound, board a spacious and well-appointed boat and enjoy up to 3 hours of leisurely cruising – allowing you to really soak up the awe-inspiring beauty of Doubtful Sound.

Lunches can be ordered for this day-trip at an additional cost.  Tea and coffee are complimentary throughout the day.

Day 2 Milford Sound Coach & Cruise

Enjoy a leisurely, small group day trip experience to the world-famous Milford Sound – once named the eighth wonder of the world.

Be picked up from Radfords on the Lake, and soak up the spectacular views along the Milford Road. The journey is just as impressive as the destination when it comes to this part of the world!

On arrival, board a modern, comfortable vessel and enjoy a boat cruise along the full length of the fiord. Then, choose to either enjoy a series of small nature walks with a guide, or a 2.5 hour hike on the Routeburn Track up to Key Summit (unguided).

Light picnic lunch is included.

Note: You have experienced two of Fiordland’s beautiful Sounds with this package – why not add Lake Te Anau? Across the lake from the charming township of Te Anau are stunning limestone caves that include Glow worms.  This is a 2 hr 15 experience that leaves a short (3 minute) walk from Radford’s.  It includes a guided tour of the cave system and a cruise across Lake Te Anau. Add this experience to your Finest of Fiordland Package from only $139.00 (dependent on departure time) per person.

  • We loved our two day stay at Radfords in Te Anau. We had an upstairs suite looking out over beautiful Lake Te Anau. Conveniently located & within walking distance of the restaurants and bus pick-up points for all Milford Sounds tours. The staff are all long-term employees and they delivered us with one of the cleanest suites we have had, anywhere. Thank-you Kerri and Team.

  • Service was over the top - amazing. We got there on a rainy day and our helicopter tour had been canceled. The lady at the front desk gave us recommendations on what to do & where to eat so our day didn’t go to waste. This hotel is right across the street from the lake with beautiful views! You can easily watch the sunset from your room or go for a little walk along the lake. Very close to all the restaurants too. We loved our stay!

  • This motel was fantastic, far better than I'd imagined. The room was beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a stunning view. The interior was also very cozy and tidy. I loved the lady at the front desk; she was so kind and gentle, like Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter. Since we were Chinese, she was very patient and explained everything to us, including things to do and eat in town, and reminded us to be careful when driving. The lady was so lovely, and we even exchanged gifts at the end. The room had a wide selection of tea and coffee, a capsule coffee machine, and a fully equipped refrigerator. It was truly far better than I expected. I highly recommend this motel to everyone.

  • My partner and I have always tried to travel on a budget but we had the opportunity to stay at Radfords on the Lake and experience true luxury and WOW!!! It's going to be hard to go back to anything else after this, even my own bed doesn't cut the mustard. The cleanliness is next level, I can't say I've ever seen everything get steam cleaned between guests before. All the little touches they've added really do make all the difference. And the hospitality from Kerri and Dexter was top notch. Kerri went out of her way to help us out when we got into a pickle, and provided great recommendations. We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our stay. And FYI, one night is not enough, stay a few! There's so much to do in Te Anau. (from Amelia & Chris)

  • Kylie at the front desk was very sweet and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. She spent a few minutes giving us local recommendations on places to eat and things to try, which is how we found Sandfly Cafe. Accommodation was very clean, comfy and warm (we were there in the winter). Kitchenette had everything you could need for a short stay. Couldn’t ask for a better location or view in the morning to be able to walk straight across the street to the lake.
Cute, cozy, quiet, and comfortable with the best views. – Jonathan C. August 2025  Read Reviews
